Alternative Title: Adventures in Literary Wonders
Tonight I had the privilege to go to a poetry reading by Michael O’Siadhail, a famed Irish poet.
As soon as it was over, I rushed out to find a quiet place in our library, opened up my computer, and typed until the raw electricity of the experience felt a little more dulled and controllable. I’m constantly in amazement by just how much words are able to affect me. It’s in these moments of music, poetry, and novels, when you stop and remark to yourself in a breathless “wow”, that I’m reminded of the universality of human emotions and how raw our hearts feel. As soon as I am able to compose those thoughts into a blog post, I’d love to share them.
In the meantime, please do yourself a favor and watch him read two of his poems out loud. It will be three minutes WELL spent.
