Cinematography and Delight

I’ve been known to do some movie reviews/suggestions when such films tickle my fancy, so on this blustery blizzard snow day, I thought I’d do just that.

So here are four movies I recommend for a snowy afternoon like today:

1. The Grand Budapest Hotel

This movie was absolutely breathtaking. From director Wes Anderson, the film captures a story within a story…within a story, about a hotel, a lobby boy, and a journey. Not only is it the quirky humor expected from Anderson, it also delivers a lasting impression of a Europe that once was, now lost. Full of rich scenery and brilliant acting, this film is sure to win you over!

2. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

I was seriously impressed by this film; don’t discredit Ben Stiller yet! It’s a simple and charming movie that begs the question ‘are we living each day to the fullest’? What is an adventurous life? With a daydreamy quick pace, this film takes you on a vagabond’s delight, and you really don’t ever want it to end.

3. Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day

I had never even heard of this until I randomly clicked on Netflix. For the next 90 minutes, I was swept up into the fast-paced, luxury-filled, pre-WWII world of 1930s London. Amy Adams gives a fantastic performance as usual and the whole story is like mixing “The Brothers Bloom” with “The Great Gatsby”. If you like fun movies, this is for you.

4. About Time

Rarely there’s been a good time travel movie that is able to put the mechanics of it aside and just question how we spend our time that is so important. This movie sets up one of the most lovely romances and overall just good stories, set in London and the English country side. Oh there’s also Rachel McAdams. Need I say more?

So snuggle down, get a mug of tea, and venture on, dear cinephiles!!
